The country also enjoys borders with the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. Separating the Asian and European territories of Turkey is the Turkish Straits and the Sea of Marmara.
Because of its geographical location, Turkey has a cultural blend of Western and Eastern traditions. The strong economic, cultural, and historical influences has gained the Turkish people international attention. With Central Asia on the East, the European Union on the West, the Middle East on the South, and Russia on the North, the country continues to gain strategic significance as well.
