SERBIA

Serbia is a country located in Central Europe, and is also known as the Republic of Serbia. It is a recently formed country, after years of civil war and uprising. It regained independence in 2006. Its borders are defined by Montenegro, Herzegovina, Bosnia, and Croatia on the West, Albania and Macedonia on the South, Bulgaria and Romania on the East, and Hungary on the North. The country is a parliamentary democracy, with both a president and a prime minister. The country also maintains leadership through the National Assembly of Serbia and the supreme court.

The history of Serbia can be traced all the way back to prehistoric times, when various archaeological excavations have unearthed evidence of civilizations. Because of the central location of the territory, history records numerous invasions by a host of different peoples and empires. Recorded accounts of various battles and civilizations claim that the country has been torn by more than 140 wars throughout the course of history. Today Romania struggles to gain an economic stronghold for itself and its people.
