The continent of Europe, which is one of seven in the world, is both a political and a geographical entity. As the term relates to geography, Europe is comprised of the western side of Eurasia. Its boundaries are defined by a number of seas to the West, South, and North. The Eastern border is defined by the Ural mountains, the Caspian Sea, and the Ural River. The Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains create the Southeast border. In terms of politics, Europe is defined according to which countries are members of the European Union.
